    Tepco Wants to Reopen World Largest Nuclear Plant — Shutdown Following ’07 Earthquake Damage, 8 Fires, Discharges and Scandal | Hawai`i News Daily

    Attempting to increase electricity to Japan’s strained system following the March 11 disaster, Tokyo Electric and Power Company, TEPCO, is planning to reopen the world’s largest nuclear power facility in Niigata Prefecture. The Kashiwazaki Kariwa nuclear power plant was shut down following a Magnitude 6.7 earthquake in 2007 that caused serious damage, a fire and spill that included the discharge of radioactive material into the atmosphere and the Sea of Japan.
